A 37-year-old Coaldale man was killed when he missed a turn on his motorcycle, striking a wire fence near Highway 845.
A passing motorist alerted authorities to the collision at 6:30 a.m. Sunday northeast of Picture Butte, RCMP said in a release.
Mounties say the man had been travelling north on Highway 519 when he missed a curve and went into a field. The motorcycle continued through the field before climbing the ditch of Highway 845, launching the bike into the air.
"It then landed in the opposite ditch and struck a wire fence on the north side of Highway 845," RCMP said.
The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.
Investigators believe the collision happened between midnight and 6:00 a.m. on April 30.
RCMP believe speed may have been a factor in the collision.
Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine if there were any other factors in the collision.
