A lone climber struck in the head by falling rock was rushed to the Canmore General Hospital after being airlifted to safety by Canmore Fire-Rescue Saturday afternoon.
EMS crews were called to an area in the vicinity of the Cougar Creek Trailhead around 1:30 p.m. where there were reports of an injured rock climber. Emergency crews confirmed a male in his 20s was scrambling up a slope when some unexpected falling rock hit him in the head.
Canmore fire and medics launched a backcountry rescue, lifting the man out to safety. The climber was taken to hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition for further assessment.
