Police are investigating a potential fight club in Spruce Grove after reports that youth planned fights and posted the locations on social media.
The meetings were drawing spectators, police said in a Tuesday news release.
"They think this is entertaining, but it can turn serious really fast," said Cpl. Kimberly Mueller, adding that police have been investigating for the past three weeks.
She explained that teens, predominantly in high school, were posting fight locations on platforms such as Instagram.
"We have ... prevented some of these fights from happening by showing up at these locations," Mueller said. "I think we've kind of got it under control."
Police officers are monitoring social media and talking to local high schools in an effort to deter the behaviour.
Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and Enoch RCMP said the activity could lead to criminal charges.
"No one can consent to having their nose broken or leg broken," Mueller said, noting no charges have been laid so far.
Mueller said she has investigated a youth fight club in the area before.
"Since 2010 ... this is the third time I've seen this fight club rear its ugly head."
Police are asking anyone with information to call Stony Plain RCMP at 780-968-7267 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
